When I asked why they didn’t try to sedate her, they said they ‘didn’t know that we gave them permission.’ They sent us home with painkillers that should also help with anxiety and a really pissed off Squish. When they called us back to pick her up, they said they couldn’t do the examination because she was attacking everyone. When we dropped her off, we warned them that she was aggressive and scared, and that they had permission to sedate her in order to do an examination. We took her to the ER that night, and even they couldn’t handle her. I had to calm her down and separate her in another room again. Her eyes would go black and she perceives everything as a threat. She took her cone off and I woke up to her attacking my boyfriend and friend who stayed over. It was a nightmare that was about to get much, much worse. After this outburst, I had to calm her down as best I could and she let me pick her up kicking and screaming as I put her In another room to help my friend. Thank god she was wearing a cone from surgery so she couldn’t bite. My friend was freaked out trying to run and I had to tell them not to move from our experience with her aggression not moving is the only thing that helps. She scratched right underneath their eye and drew blood. She attacked their legs and jumped on the couch to attack their face. She was laying down, when my friend got up to go get something, and she snapped. She always gets a little anxious when a lot of people are standing around her, so we all just tried to sit as much as possible. We had friends over, 3 people, who squish had all met before and been friendly with, sitting on their laps and loving pets. That anger was just expressed through whines or scratches but her nails were cut short so nothing serious. All she wanted was for me to hold her 24/7 and the only time she’d get mad is when I had to stop holding to eat or pee. She let me pick her up, brush her, put a collar on her, even touch her paws which she never allowed before. The first week after the surgery, there was a huge personality shift for her. She was put on a pain killer for the first 4 days and a antihistamine for the next 10. After surgery she was pissed as to be expected for any scared confused cat. They removed the remnant ovary and also a mass of hormonal tissue.

When she had her surgery, it seemed to be a success at first. It was still just scratching at this point. We watched every Jackson galaxy video ever, tried playing before meals, catnip, switching foods, switching litter, being quieter, ignoring her outbursts or yelling ‘NO’ and nothing seemed to help. We chalked it up to pain before surgery, but we’re also doing tons of research for anyway we could help soothe and calm her volatile nature. She was still her sweet cuddly self but then would have random outbursts of anger more and more frequently. In the meantime before the surgery, she began to get more and more aggressive. We thought she might be in pain so we brought her to the vet and they had to perform surgery as she had remnant ovary syndrome. A little scratch or two but nothing severe. She started to have random bursts of anger. After a week or so, she started to open up and play with us and her toys and eventually accept pets. When we took her home, she was shy and adjusting to a new home like any normal cat. When me and my boyfriend first met Squish, she was purring and came up to us right away. The family of this woman didn’t want Squish either so they gave her to the elderly woman’s landlord to find a new home for her. We adopted her from a elderly woman who couldn’t take care of her any longer due to her age. I adopted my cat Squish in February and she was an absolute angel the first few weeks. We love her so much and really don’t want to rehome her but fear for our safety and hers…any advice is welcome! Vet says it will take 6-8 weeks for her hormones to adjust, but are thinking about putting her on medication in the mean time. She started biting and trying to scratch people’s eyes…sending 3 people to the ER. She was always anxious and a little aggressive, but after surgery, she started to become extremely violent. She had surgery to fix her remnant ovary syndrome which went well. I recently adopted my cat squish from a neglectful previous owner. Cat lovers and experts of Reddit my cat squish needs your help!
